My Top Cleansers

Monday, 14 November 2016

Cleansing has always been something I haven't really done. Of course, I was my face and exfoliate and the whole skincare routine, but I've never really known what cleansing was. I thought it was about time I educated myself and put some to the test. I have 2 favorites, one slightly more expensive and one really affordable.

The first is the Sanctuary Spa 'Detox Charcol Mask'. this is such a lovely cleanser that starts off as a gel and once massaged into the skin with water turns to a milky oil. Really luxurious and deeply cleansing. The product self-warms on the face to open up pores and give a really deep clean. It leaves my skin feeling so so soft and fresh. I couldn't recommend it more!

The second cleanser I have been loving for more of an everyday use is the Simple foaming cleanser. This is a very affordable but good quality cleanser that I use to remove my makeup before cleansing again. I love the simplicity of the product and the assurance that I get from Simple products that my skin isn't going to react badly. This is a great light and kind cleanser that leaves my face clean and refreshed!

All That Glitters

Monday, 17 October 2016
How beautiful is this bag by Katie Loxton?! I got it in Kingston while shopping around in Fennicks and fell in love! It's the perfect size for small essentials inside a bigger bag or maybe as a clutch for a night out! There were loads of different colours with different phrases but the metallic silver took my eye and I had to have it. It was too beautiful not to show you guys so here is my new baby! It was so affordable but really feels luxury and the packaging was so lovely, you guys should definitely check out this brand, who doesn't love affordable luxury!

New In Beauty

Tuesday, 11 October 2016
So Recently I went on a bit of a splurge and I bought quite a few new beauty bits. My top 3 favourite bits were all for the face, I got a new foundation, concealer and a primer/highlighter...

The foundation is the Bourjous Healthy Mix SerumFoundation in '52 Vanille', I have never really ventured into Bourjous makeup before but I have heard quite a lot of good things about the brand and in particular this foundation so I thought I would give it a go! - And I absolutely love it! I didn't want a heavy coverage foundation because I like the 'no makeup makeup' look, but I wanted to be able to hide any discolouration or blemishes if I needed to. The formula is so lovely and light and feels like nothing on the skin. It has a lovely dewy finish and the colour match was pretty much perfect for my weird pale skin!

Foundation -

The concealer I picked up was also by Bourjous and it is the 'Radiance Reveal' concealer in 'Light'.  Again I loooveeee this!! Not too heavy but covers what I need it to. It's really nice and illuminating and definitely brightens under the eyes! love this and I have to say the packaging is so lovely and feels very high end.

Concealer -

I needed a primer but I also wanted a product that I could add to my foundation to give it more glow! I found this product my the brand 'Seventeen' and it looked perfect for what I wanted. It's basically a 2in1 primer and highlighter. I either apply it to my face before the foundation, mix it in with the foundation or just apply it after as a creamy highlighter, it looks quite scary in the bottle but once applied it is quite subtle and not too sparkly.

Until next time! Georgie xx

Egg, Avo' & Tomato Toast

Tuesday, 27 September 2016
I was making breakfast this morning and thought I would document it because it's my absolutely favourite breakfast of all time and it's so easy plus it's healthy, (Bonus!).

You'll need, eggs (I used 2), an avocado, 2 slices of toast and some big tomatoes. I also used some chilli flakes, salt, pepper, garlic salt and a squeeze of lemon juice.

First off I popped the toast into the toaster and started on my avo mash. I used both halves of the avocado and used a fork to mash it up in this bowl. This is when I added all of my seasonings, I like the addition of some chilli flakes to add a bit of heat to the dish, but this is obviously optional!

I then fried the eggs so they were nice and runny, and then I was ready to serve everything together.

I spread the avo mash equally onto my toast, sliced up the tomato and added that, and then finally put my two eggs on top, with a sprinkling of salt and pepper... and voila!! The easiest and quickest breakfast but definitely the most delicious and healthy!

Let me know if you try it! Hope you enjoy xxx

Beauty Favourites | September 2016

Monday, 26 September 2016
My current beauty favourites are always changing as i experiment with new products and get bored of old ones! Here are my recent beauty favourites that I have loved for these last few weeks of summer going into autumn!

Enjoy x

The first fave of mine is this Benefit Brow Gel (Ready Set Brow £18.50) It's really good at keeping my brows in place all day, they do tend to feel a bit stiff and weird when I have the gel in but at least it keeps them in place! I like that it is clear, perfect for those 'no makeup makeup' days. I have this cute travel sized one and this is great for popping in my bag for doing my makeup on the go!

Ready Set Brow -

This is a brand of brushes that I hadn't ever really heard of, but I really love this brush. I got it in a beauty sub box and thought id give it a go and it is so lovely and soft as well as looking beautiful! I have this slightly tapered fluffy brush (A04 - £7.99) - I'm not 100% certain what it's for but I use it for powdering under my eyes and highlighting! It works perfectly for both and I definitely will be purchasing more of these brushes.

Spectrum Brush -

I'm always looking out for a multifunctional palette that I can use for travelling or just if I'm feeling lazy! I saw this new palette by Bary M (Natural Glow Shadow & Blush Palette - £6.50) and thought it looked perfect for what I wanted! It has some really nice neutral colours with a mix of matte and slightly shimmery, it also includes a blush which is a beautiful rosy pink. The eye shadows are nice and pigmented and the blush is really nice for a subtle pinkness on the cheeks.

As you can probably tell I am absolutely loving the blush pink trend that is going around. I've always loved pink but have never fond the right way to wear it without looking 12! I think blush pinks and rose pinks are a great way of incorporating more feminine colours without looking too young! I have always loved Bary M nail varnish, especially their speedy nail varnish because it means I can actually get stuff done quicker! This is such a gorgeous colour and applies beautifully onto the nails. (Bary M Speedy Nail Paint in 'Rose Pink' £4.00)

This last item is another new one for me, by the brand 'Amazing Cosmetics', this is their 'Amazing Concealer' - £19.50), and I actually got this on a flight because I suddenly realised I had forgotten my concealer, but I've ended up really liking it. A little goes a long long way, so it is definitely going to last me a very long time! But really great coverage, easy to blend and doesn't crease during the day!

My Top 3 Face Masks

Tuesday, 6 September 2016

I feel like face masks have recently made a come back, I never really believed face mask could help with my skin as I never thought I really had any skin problems. But you don't need to have anything particularly wrong with your skin to feel the benefits of face masks as I have recently found!

I wanted to share my top 3 face mask, all three of these face masks help your skin in different ways and are perfect for when your skin needs some extra tlc!-

L'areal Pure Clay Detox Mask (£7.99):

This is a really interesting mask. It's from a range of 3 clay masks and I chose the detox version. The charcoal is great at pulling out impurities from your skin so perfect for problem skin or even normal skin that you may want to give a deeper cleanse. I love the creamy texture of this and the way it dries hard, its oddly satisfying! It does get pretty messy though especially because its black! so just be careful when removing it.

Skin Food Black Sugar Mask (£5.76):

This is a Korean skincare mask, it has a very interesting texture, it feels like an exfoliator yet it is a face mask. To apply it you get a small amount and warm it up in your fingers with a small amount of water and you then massage it into your face like you would an exfoliator, but leave it on for 10-15 mins! It's got a lovely smell and makes your skin feel so clean and fresh after you use it. It is quite a harsh exfoliator so if you have sensitive skin it may not be for you, but it can be made more gentle by adding more water to dilute it slightly.

Kaeso Beauty Facial Mask (£7.99):

This is a really lovely gentle mask, super hydrating and great for sensitive and dry skin. It's basically just a really thick moisturiser but you leave a nice thick layer on your skin for about 15 minutes, or you could leave it on for longer, depending on how much hydration you need! This is a great all round mask that can be used for most skin types for an added bit of moisture and repair!

Autumn ASOS Wishlist

The Best Smoothie Ever!

Wednesday, 17 August 2016

The best berry and banana smoothie ever!

This is my go to smoothie recipe that I always use! (if i have all of the ingredients!) It's a great mixture of sour and sweet and is so perfect for a snack or breakfast or even for a healthy pudding! It's basically just frozen berries and bananas, but its the extra ingredients that make it so special and yum!

1 Large Banana
1 Handful of Frozen Berries
1 Small Apple
A Squeeze of Honey
1 Small Drinking yoghurt
50ml of Water
50ml of Fruit Juice

I first add the banana, then a handful of frozen berries - my favourites are the waitress berry mix, which includes strawberries, blackberries, blueberries and small berries which i'm not actually sure what they are! I add some type of yoghurt, this gives it a creamy taste without having to add something naughty, I like to add either natural yoghurt or i even pour in a drinking yoghurt so the consistency isn't so thick. For this particular smoothie I actually added a small apple, I think apple is a good way of getting in more fruit without it becoming too thick, the apple gives it a nice bitterness. I then add some cold water, this again makes a smoother smoothie and also makes sure its nice and cold. To counteract the bitterness I add a very small dollop of either honey or golden syrup (if i'm feeling extra naughty). And lastly I add some fruit juice, I usually add orange but any juice is great. I then just blend it all up and its so delicious trust me!

Let me know if you try it out! Thanks for stopping by xxx

My University Experience - The Highs & Lows

Tuesday, 16 August 2016

So its coming to that time of year where everyone is going back to school and joining a new year group or maybe you're preparing for your first year of University. If you're anything like i was then you're probably pretty scared and a little apprehensive about the whole experience. It is defiantly a very big step in your life and lots of things start changing.

For one, most of you will be living on your own for the first time away from home and that alone can be very scary! Not only that but you're moving to a new place and making new friends and starting a new chapter in your life and your education!

When I embarked on this journey this time last year I was in exactly the same boat. Everything was new and scary and I didn't quite know what to expect. I wanted to share my experience and some of tips so that any of you who are going through this new chapter can feel a little more at ease.

My 5 Top Tips:

1. Don't over pack clothing! - As you probably know if you went to visit your halls there isn't a lot of room and there really isn't. Make sure you have the essentials you're going to need but try and back the bare minimum. If you're not that far away from home you can always pop back on a weekend or in the holidays to grab some things you may have forgotten but for the most part, you really will make do with what you have. The main things you need are : comfy clothing for lectures or lounging around, going out clothes for freshers or any other nights when you'll be partying, and just a few casual outfits for normal days.

2. Don't hide away in your room - When you're in a new place and you feel a bit lonely and maybe homesick the worst thing you can do is just shut yourself away in your room. trust me! it makes things a lot worse and gives you too much time to think about home. Try and mingle and get to know your house mates or roommates, remember you will all be in the same position so no one will feel overly confident. Freshers is a great way of getting to know people and making new friends, so try your hardest to get yourself out there and have fun!

3. Budget!  - For most of you when you get your student loan it will be the most money you've probably ever seen in your bank account. This is very dangerous because that money isn't going to last! It may look like a lot but you don't realise how much it costs to live on your own! It is very tempting to spend loads of money on clothes and whatever you enjoy spending your money on but that just means you won't have enough money to eat towards the end of the term! Budgeting is a great way of making your money last. Maybe even having two many accounts where you pay yourself a certain amount a day or a week so your money lasts.

4. Don't forget to study - With everything being new and there being lots of changes in the first few weeks of uni it can be quite easy to forget the real reason you're there. Remember that you're the one that is effectively paying for this education and there's no point in being there if you're not going to put effort in. It may be more work than you're used to and it may be harder than you were expecting but there are always lecturers and people around you who can support you, There are helpful library and even help desks on campus so you never have to fee like the work is dragging you down.

5. Don't Panic - It's very easy to feel overwhelmed at university, you are dealing with lots of new experiences and sometimes it can all get a bit much. Just remember you're not alone! There are guaranteed to be other people there who feel the same and who may be struggling just like you. Reach out to people of you're having a down day, you'll have new friends or even old friends who will be there for you, there are always helplines or an email you can use for any help or assistance you may need, and always remember that your family are only a call or a text away!

University is tough, for some people it can be quite hard (I defiantly struggled), but for the majority of people its the best experience in the world and they wouldn't change it. It's usually only 3 years of your life and you should try to enjoy and take in every moment because at the end of it you really will be pushed into the big wide world!

I hope this post made you maybe feel a little more at ease about University, not everyone has the same experience but if its anything like mine you'll really love it in the end!x

Summer Essentials

Tuesday, 9 August 2016

Summer is officially here and I thought I would share with you guys my top summer essentials! This doesn't include obvious things like suncream - but a few of my favourite products that I have used for many summers in a row.

1. Sunglasses - A good pair of sunglasses is always necessary for summer, I have especially sensitive eyes so finding a good pair of sunglasses with a high amount of UV protection is really important. I really like these sunglasses from misguided - they are really dark and reflective so they're perfect for really bright or sunny weather!

2. High SPF moisturiser - My favourite moisturiser for the summer is the Simple 'protecting moisture cream' in spf 30. This is such a lovely fresh product that doesn't feel too heavy and sticky but has enough protection to keep your skin really nourished and protected from the sun!

3. Brow Gel - A good brow gel is always a must for me - most importantly in the summer when (I don't know about you!) but my makeup never seems to stay put in the hot sweaty humid weather! A good brow gel just means you don't have to faf around making sure your makeup is in place. The benefit 'ready set brow' is perfect to insure your brows don't end up looking like Spock!

4. Light Body Moisturiser - This Vaseline spray moisturiser is so handy - it has a continuous spray which is also really helpful and the added Aloe Vera means its great if you've caught a bit too much sun! This is also really nice and light so you don't have to wait ages for it to dry - it dries almost instantly.

5. Shimmer Body Oil - This shimmer bronze body oil from The Body Shop is so beautiful. It gives you such a lovely shimmery airbrushed look. I put it on my legs and chest, mostly when I'm on holiday to emphasis my tan and just give me such a lovely holiday glow!

6. Leave In Conditioner - My hair is always a little more dry in the summer because of the heat so I need something extra than just my normal in-shower conditioner. This dove leave in conditioner is perfect for damaged hair. It again is really light and easy to work with, it leaves your hair feeling so weightless and smooth. This conditioner is also really good for coloured hair, if it needs some more tlc!

7. Lip Cream - As well as my hair my lips also get quite dry around the summer time so a quite heavy lip balm is essential for me. Normally I just use Vaseline but during the summer if my lips need something a little more nourishing I use this multipurpose balm by Lanolips. This is a very thick balm and is defiantly for very dry lips but this works wonders!

8. BB Cream - I never really feel like wearing a thick foundation in the summer so a nice light BB cream is perfect. This Garnier BB cream is my absolute favourite. It has a small amount of coverage, but gives such a lovely glow to the skin. The colour isn't over powering so its the perfect product to carry on wearing through the summer when your skin may get slightly darker!

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed my summer essentials!

Mallorca 2016

Tuesday, 19 July 2016
Last week I went to Mallorca on a family holiday, I had such an amazing time, staying in an actual castle! - that we rented! There were 9 of us so it was a pretty hectic holiday, but never the less we all enjoyed it. I wanted to share some of my favourite snaps from the holiday with you guys - hope you enjoy :)
